Safety

At Chattahoochee Crane we believe that Safety comes not from policy, or even from credentials & programs, but from the top of an organization.  Ownership is key to driving safety throughout a company and giving it the place it deserves.  Owners that reward operators for making hard decisions send a more clear message than certifications and program membership do.  Nonetheless, compliance with standards and norms, and participation in programs are also important to achieving the ultimate goal – which is that everyone goes home safe at the end of each day!

At Chattahoochee Crane we insist on our operators being NCCCO certified and we insist that our cranes are compliant to safety standards according to third-party inspectors, ensuring that a more rigorous inspection is done every year. Some of our employees actually teach crane safety courses and participate with training and safety efforts on an ongoing basis.

What is the NCCCO? NCCCO was formed in January 1995 as a non-profit organization with its mission to develop effective performance standards for safe crane operation to assist all segments of general industry and construction.  By providing thorough, independent assessments of knowledge and skills, NCCCO aims to enhance lifting safety, reduce workplace risk, improve performance records, stimulate training, and give due recognition to the professionals who work in, with, and around cranes.

Equipment Maintenance is another area of high importance to the industry.  As equipment degrades over time the potential for an accident increases.  Small issues build and can become bigger problems, or lead to an accident by causing distraction to the operator.  These are issues that we treat with high levels of respect!  In addition to insisting on third-party inspections every year for crane certification, we maintain our cranes for longevity and reliability, and to keep our operators as comfortable as possible as well!

Our employees participate in training in the following ways:

-        DOT Random Drug Screening

-        DOT Medical Cards every 2 years

-        CPR & Emergency First Aid every 2 years

-        Smith System Driver Training for all new employees

-        Weekly (documented) safety meeting
